Protecting Employee Information Isn’t Just a Best Practice. It’s the Law!

Like most professionals who work with private and confidential information, the laws and regulations for HR departments are numerous, specific, and strict.

In addition to your own organizations’ rules and policies regarding the collection and handling of employees' confidential information, state and federal regulations establish explicit rules of law over the collection, creation, retention, sharing, and, ultimately, the destruction of personal, private, and confidential information.

Governs how private sector organizations collect, use, and disclose personal information. The act requires organizations to adopt secure physical destruction of personal information to safeguard against any loss, theft, or unauthorized access.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Protects the personal data and privacy of EU citizens and applies to all companies, whether they operate in the EU or outside, that store or use any information about EU citizens.
