I had made arrangements to have Shred-it come and do a file purge early in June. I am happy to say it was done effeciently and the customer service representative Ed Wallace was terrific. Aside from the time you save sitting in front of a shredder that usually gets jammed (are the staples out?)- isn't that the ultimate negative experience? As humans we tend to AVOID negative situations and take the path of least resistance - in this case avoiding the shredder and just "tossing the document" in a trash can.
Besides the fact that the Shred-it box is not an eye sore - it's a valuable table top for pictures, computer monitors, and so on. The easy slot allows you to just "slip" the papers in - no crumpling - no worrying about staples - and it's secured by a lock.
The Shred-it man (as we call him) comes - unlocks the cabinet - takes the paper that falls into the pouch - takes it to the truck - shreds it - and then gives us a Certificate of Destruction. Having a Mortgage company I hold sensitive information. I can rest knowing my customers information is secure. (it's also a good place to trash your own bills, credit card statements, etc.)
I use it as a tool to tell my clients that their identity is safe.

First of all Shred-it staff are very courteous and make contact with a Security Officer when they are on the premises. If they know that a new person will be coming on the next visit, they will inform security a week before. Doing this allows me to take them on a tour of the facility and show them exactly where each Shred-it box is located.
The main Shred-it Customer Service Representative that everyone totally enjoys is "Adrian Hunter". Adrian comes to the hospital always with a smile even through the times when parking has been quite a mess due to construction.
Adrian will be in/out within no time even though it is a big load. I would like to see more contract employees walk through our doors with the enthusiasm and smile that he has.
