I learned a lot from Greg. I vividly remember one day after he had just purchased his blue convertible BMW M3. We hoped in it for a quick run to Tim Horton's and had a cup of coffee together. Much of what I've accomplished since leaving Shred-it was because of the time I spent learning fro... read morem Greg.

I was the GM for Newcastle in England and remember meeting Greg for the first time at my interview at SHRED-IT HO in Canada. It was his birthday in 2002 and the warmth, affection and love held for him by all the staff was clear for anyone there to see. I was privelaged to have met Mr Brophy on a couple of occasions when he came to the UK.

From the moment i met him, i was genuinely inspired by his enthusiasm & sheer sincerity.

One of my favourite memories of Greg was quite simply the level of attention he must have paid to a co

He overheard me say that i had just recently taken up golf & that i was keen to improve my game just so i could compete with my friends who play regularly.

The very next morning during a sales "conference" he calls me up on stage in front of around 100 people just to give me a set of Shred-it golf balls & wished me the very best of luck with my new hobby!!!

I was truly shocked & completely overwhelmed at this gesture - i know its only a set of golf balls but it was more about the sentiment & i think thats a true mark of the man himself - a genuinely caring, nice man.

Mr Brophy, i was saddened to hear about the tragic news but im honestly glad to have met you on those occasions.

I don't think I've ever met a more positive person to this day. In school if you got within 20 feet of Greg you ended up with a smile on your face - he exuded positivity.

I remember (not sure how accurately) seeing Greg and his brother's ever-present jalopy blue pickup truck around our

I used to think, those guys are weird, who seals driveways? Years later I met up with Greg as he came to the company I worked at looking to sell paper shredding services (a new company he just formed). I remember thinking, huh?, who shreds paper?

Greg's positivity allowed him to see opportunity no matter how disguised. People like Greg are never forgotten.

Life works in strange ways.... Last night I was reminiscing about all the places I had lived and remembered a certain household I've become a boarder at in Mississauga in 1982. This was the Brophy household where Greg was then living with his parents. It was a basement apartment and I, as a t... read moreeenager then, in my first place on my own, was learning the limits of being a tenant. Greg's mother and I didn't always see exactly eye to eye so it was often Greg that I would speak with from time to time. He always had that radiant smile, a soft spoken and calming sense about him. I just wanted to share that Greg touched people's lives in ways you might not have realized, long before this business, and that in the ether of memory in the world he is still remembered... here, in Baltimore, MD, by an old roomate of his household. Be well.

Greg was my Dad, and is my biggest life inspiration. I often visit this site to read all the great memories everyone has shared with him. Whether you have met him once in your life or was his family, his daughter, you knew he was larger then life. He knew how to make every moment a fun one, n... read moreot only for him but for those around him. I have too many memories to write down in one small window but i can say that they are enough to fill my lifetime. I miss him everyday as I knew all of you do as well.

I want to share for all who are apart of shred-it, a couple years ago i was sitting in my Dads office when he said something that i will never forget, he told me that he was frustrated, he was so busy that he hadn't gotten to walk around the office that week without the purpose of business but simply to catch up with everyone. He truly cared, He loved knowing every person that worked with him on a personal and friendly level. He wanted his business to be a family not just a work place. It is amazing to see that everyone is keeping his dream alive. I know every time I see a Shred-it truck pass I smile and think how special it is that he left such a mark on this earth.

This site is beautiful,I am so proud to say that my Dad's spirit will live on forever within the memories we all have shared with him. Love Kirsten.

Actually .. & unfortunately , I don't have memories with Mr. Brophy. Even I didn't had the honor to meet or to speak with him . I'm just a man in Dubai , got an e-mail from recruitment agency for interview regarding new job. I've got the mail 7 hours before. And while I’m doing my homework ... read moreand being prepared for the interview by studding every little thing about the company , I came to know that Mr. Brohy is the CEO. I came to know that the company lost him 2007. I made extra search and came to know all details about the accident . I've red a lot of people telling how much he was a kind & friendly person . I came to know that he added a lot for a lot of people. Human being wise and & professionalism wise. I came to know that there are very big important people still learning from any small people and love to learn. With all of my respect Mr. Brophy , I wish for you the peace and wish to get all your experience one day and share it with your family company. If I'll not be appointed tomorrow in this position , I will not be angry because of that, but because I didn't get the chance to enter Mr. Brophy’s successful world made by him and sharing his kind soul on the eyes of all workers.

God bless you Sir.
