Data Privacy Day

Raising awareness about data privacy

January 28 is International Data Privacy Day and Shred-it is proud to support this cause.

Data Privacy Day is a division of The Privacy Projects, a nonprofit think tank and research organization dedicated to facilitating the role of privacy and data protection. Data Privacy Day 2010 is an international celebration of data protection and information privacy promoted by the United States, Canada, and the 27 countries of the European Union.

The primary purpose for Data Privacy Day is to raise awareness and promote education about data privacy. Data Privacy Day encourages international collaboration and exchange of ideas. To facilitate participation in the educational initiative, the Data Privacy Day 2010 webpage provides a central location for a diverse collection of privacy resources for use by businesses, educators, and consumers.

Shred-it provides solutions that significantly reduce the risks of sensitive data falling into the wrong hands by using standardized, tested and universal processes to handle the tail end of information management. To help organizations and consumers better understand how to protect their privacy, Shred-it has some helpful tips and articles in commemoration of Data Privacy Day 2010.
