Business in the Community
Shred-it is currently involved with Business in the Community (BITC), a program dedicated to providing work experience to students in post primary education. Students are placed in short-term work experience with Shred-it by the local school. Each student is assigned a mentor from Shred-it to help their development throughout the program. The students are provided with on-going support sessions with their mentor, which involves meeting once a month for one hour at Shred-it Offices. This is a two year program which involves:
- Report writing
- Researching the company
- Work shadowing
- Researching college and university choices
- Drafting quality Curriculum Vitaes
- PowerPoint Presentations
- Interviewing the mentor
The program aims to:
- Promote the retention of students in school
- Build the self esteem and confidence of students
- Prepare students for life after school
- Assist students career pathways
- Provide role models for students
