8.Why choose on site shredding?
On site shredding is the most secure method for document destruction because it is done on site in a secure locked area in our shredding truck. Let me explain how it works with us. The first thing we do is install locked consoles in your facility. And that's where all documents that need to be destroyed are deposited and stored until our scheduled visit. That's when our trained customer service representative will unlock the console, remove the blue nylon bag filled with confidential data and take it directly to the shredder, which is behind a locked gate in the Shred-it truck. Documents are then shredded and destroyed on site. Of course, you're welcome to come to the truck and watch the shredding process. You'll also receive a Certificate of Destruction before we leave - that's your guarantee that your documents have been securely destroyed.
9.Why choose off site shredding?
We always recommend on site shredding to our customers because it is the most secure document destruction method. It happens on site at your place of business.
From the time our CSR opens the console to retrieve your confidential documents to the time the materials are shredded in our on site parked truck, they are never out of our site. But of course, for some businesses, off-site shredding is necessary. You may have large volume shredding requirements and not want our truck onsite for that long. Or, the location doesn't provide suitable access for our truck, such as an underground parking lot. Other times, it may be an urgent clean-out that needs to be done right away - you simply prefer to have the job done off site.
No problem. Shred-it has strict procedures so that the security of sensitive documents is always guaranteed. Our process ensures that everything is destroyed as we receive it - all the paper goods and boxes and pallets. There's no sorting of materials prior to the shred.
We'll also send you a Certificate of Destruction once the documents have been shredded.
10.Which information security tips are important?
All businesses today need to protect the confidential information of their customers, suppliers, employees and business in general. Mishandled, lost or stolen documents can lead to security breaches and things like identity theft.
Interestingly, the majority of security breaches that happen in the workplace happen by accident. And that's because many employees are still unaware of the type of information that needs to be protected.
So one of the first things you should do in your organization is identify risks that may threaten the security of confidential information.
That means knowing the life cycle of all documents in your office, from the time they're generated to how and where they're stored to when they should be destroyed.
It's important that all businesses today create a culture of security internally so that both employees and suppliers understand and value confidentiality.
When it comes to document destruction shredding is the more secure method. At the same time, for security having a shred-all policy in your workplace is also recommended.
A shred-all policy means that all documents are shredded when they are not needed any more. It also means theres no risk that confidential documents ever get into the wrong hands.
