Shred-it’s integrated recycling and security program
Environmental responsibility is integral to Shred-it’s corporate mission and values. Shred-it’s secure document shredding process not only protects your security needs, but also helps you achieve your environmental goals.
How it works:
After your sensitive material is collected, shredded and baled, all shredded material is then recycled. All recycled paper contributes directly to the production of a wide assortment of paper products such as paper towels and paper plates. For every two security consoles filled with paper, one tree is saved through the recycling process.
Additional environmental benefits of Shred-it’s recycling program are far- reaching. According to industry estimates, in addition to saving trees, every ton of recycled paper uses 64% less energy, 50% less water and causes 74% less air pollution than the same quantity of paper from virgin wood pulp.
At the end of the year, every client receives a Certificate of Environmental Accomplishment outlining their contribution and showing how their paper shredding is helping to save the environment.
Our green commitment goes beyond paper
A greener fleet. Our trucks are designed for lower emissions and fuel consumption. All motors meet or exceed North American emission standards.
An eye to the future. We’re utilizing smaller, more fuel-efficient trucks and auto-shutdown technology to further reduce emissions, and we’re exploring hybrid and electric truck opportunities.
Friendlier fuels. They are reclaimable, recyclable, non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, low-odor, free of heavy metals and 20-60% biodegradable within 28 days.
Green Consoles. We practice what we preach. So even your security containers are built with 100% recycled-wood particle board.
